Lord of the Flies

1. Lord of the Flies is a non-fiction novel that tells a story about a group of little kids that get stranded on a deserted island. The main characters in the story are Ralph, Jack, Simon, Piggy, Rodger, Sam and Eric, and the Lord of the Flies. Ralph finds a conch when walking on the island. Ralph blows the conch to lead people in his direction to see who else is on the island. Then the group picked who would be in charge of what. Ralph became leader, Jack became hunter, and Sam and Eric are the scouters. When living on the island for quiet some time they learn how to be a civilized group with helping on the food, fire, hygiene, and survival. Over the time the group has lost people from the group and is separating. Simon has his own little spot that he likes to go. Simons’ spot is where there is shade and fruit and he enjoys it. Simon goes for a walk at night and the littleluns think he is the suppose “beast” so they have a meeting for that. Simon has an encounter with the Lord of the Flies and have a vision with the Lord of the Flies. When the group has their separation they become less civilized and are not using the conch anymore. Their fate of getting saved has died after their fire goes out and a ship passes by. Once Jack’s group has Ralph alone and no one on his side they go hunting for him. Ralph has to run from the other boys and he encounters the Lord of the Flies and he does damage to it and takes the stick for protection. The group sets the island on fire in order to get Ralph out of a cave but the fire got way out of hand. Ralph was running to the ocean and then trips and there standing in front of him was a officer that was there to save him and the rest of the group.

2. The author writes this novel because of his experience in World War II. During this whole story there are lessons that show the aging of things. The book is about people who learn the way of life.

3. The book felt really realistic because it shows the way humans would react when strafed alone with a group and have to live on their own. At the same time it seems not realistic because how could people be so disastrous.

4. The authors tone is realistic because it has back up information that can be used in real life situations. The way they go from civilized to not civilized is how people turn into when they are alone.
