Task Two: Know Your Zombies

In Angela Watercutter's pamphlet entitled How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse Using Science, she states that there is a way to survive a zombie apocalypse if you follow the rules she suggests. The author supports her claim by naming objects that people can use to protect themselves and gives a list of things to know about the zombies. The author next proceeds to show that there are people in the field of neuroscience that have put time into learning about how a zombie brain would function and how their abilities would be compared to a normal human. When they were studying the zombie brain off of movies such as 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead, and The Return of the Living Dead they figured out that a zombie has slow movement, short term memory loss, immune to pain, easily distracted, and won't know the difference if you started mimicking them. Finally, the author stats a quote from Verstynen which said, "This entire endeavor is partly an academic 'what if' exercise for us and partly a tongue-in-cheek critique of the methods of our profession of cognitive neuroscience." This means that since they have a profession in cognitive neuroscience they had the knowledge to make what they said facts because of their knowledge and everything the state has real abilities for example how they are immune to pain people can actually have that ability. They also include a visual of a normal brain and has the pinpoint were the function is located.
